Description

The other keyblade I was working on... Wayward Wind! For the Kingdom Key, check it out here: fav.me/d789rce

This is also made out of cardboard, masking tape, paint and glue. The template was printed out and traced onto cardboard for accuracy and cut out with an x-acto knife. I used 5 layers for the thicker parts and 3 layers for the thinner parts. The beveled edges were done with individually cut out pieces of cardboard. Since this keyblade didn't have any rounded part like the kingdom key, I figured adding a few dowels (pencils) along the length within the middle layer would allow for stability and durability. I used minimal amounts of masking tape to cover the keyblade -- namely the edges where the corrugated parts of the cardboard shows. We want a nice smooth finish... Anyways, the rivets on the keyblade were made out of polymer clay which were then painted and glued on using super glue. The keychain was also made out of polymer clay and painted using silver acrylic paint. The gem on the inside was supposed to be rhombus shaped, but I couldn't find one so an emerald-cut one had to suffice. The entire thing was painted using a mix of black and brown for the main body and a mix of yellow and brown for the lighter areas.

I really wanted to have the keychain 3D printed, but my friend didn't get his printer done on time *sigh*. Polymer clay isn't all that strong (at least not what I have) so it doesn't really survive being swung around at comic-con very long :P

Apologies for the crappy picture. I wanted to take a shot in much better lighting and a better place, but I well... didn't. XD
